marco campea

Marco Campea began his musical journey studying classical music at the age of seven. He soon combined his classical training with the study of modern music, focusing particularly on jazz while also developing an interest in sound engineering.

His jazz teachers include Amedeo Tommasi, with whom he studied modern harmony; Giorgio Gaslini, who introduced him to improvisation techniques and new approaches to contemporary music; and Andrea Alberti, who first introduced him to jazz piano at a very young age.

From 1980 to 1983, he attended the Siena Jazz seminars. He also attended masterclasses with Joe Zawinul, his main musical inspiration, through which he learned and developed synthesizer programming techniques, the design and management of keyboard setups and, above all, a meticulous attention to sound.

He began teaching at a young age and has worked with various music schools, including the Centro Jazz St. Louis in Rome in 1981–1982. In addition to teaching instrumental and music theory courses, he organised seminars on musical arrangement and the emerging digital audio recording techniques of the time.

He has collaborated extensively with RAI, composing soundtracks for programmes covering a wide range of subjects.
